Cordell Dorsey open to offers, receiving Oklahoma, Oklahoma State interest

ROUND ROCK, Texas -- As a linebacker playing near the line of scrimmage, Abilene (Texas) Cooper safety Cordell Dorsey isnt a high-level prospect at 62 and 190 pounds. But put him back at safety and all of a sudden hes a talent deserving of high-level BCS offers.
After playing on the edge as a junior, Dorseys headed back to safety -- his position as a freshman -- for his final year of high school and the move has helped increase interest in his services. With offers from Baylor, Oregon State, Texas State, Texas Tech, and Washington State, as well as serious interest from Florida State, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State, Dorsey has some impressive options already and could add a couple more in the near future.
The Sooners are trying to get Dorsey on campus for a camp and to get a feel for the atmosphere in Norman. Oklahoma is also one of the schools that is recruiting him the hardest, along with the Oklahoma State Cowboys, he told SB Nation Recruiting on Saturday at the Round Rock SQT.
The move back to the defensive backfield isnt one that hes worried about.
Im very comfortable with the move to safety because I played there my freshman year and its all about the game IQ -- if you have that down, its all pretty easy, the 247Sports high three-star prospect said.
Its not about anything physical, its about trying getting my mindset right and studying film and get everything down to be the greatest, he said when asked about learning technique in the move further from the ball.
Despite battling a cramp on Saturday in rainy weather, Dorsey flashed the ability to get physical in space in coverage, flip his hips and run, and then find the ball to make a play, a combination that will serve him well this fall and the type of movement ability and athletic savvy that makes him such a legitimate safety prospect.
Right now, there arent any standouts among the current offers from Baylor, Oregon State, Texas State, Texas Tech, and Washington State, but theres also a lot left to happen in Dorseys recruitment with schools wanting to see him in camp and visits to take this summer.
The impressions will have to be strong ones, as he says that he plans on making a decision before his senior season, depending on how many camps hes able to attend, a number that includes the school that have already offered, though the plans to make it out to the West Coast are tentative at this time, but he does think he will make a Washington State camp in the first week of June.
With two offers from Big 12 schools and two from Pac-12 programs, Dorsey is content with the state of his recruitment now, given the interest from the other three top-level schools.
Im not begging anyone for an offer and Im just going with the flow now. If they pop up, they pop up. Im comfortable going anywhere that makes me feel like home, Dorsey said about how hes handling things.
The next several months, and the schools that receive camp visits, will be telling in Dorseys recruitment, with plenty to be written in his decisions narrative, especially as the coaches of the schools that have offered and are showing strong interest battle for those all-important camp visits.
