Messi and Friends vs. World All-Stars
7 p.m. Saturday (ESPN)
Though Tuesdays charity exhibition in Los Angeles organized by Barcelona and Argentina superstar Lionel Messi was canceled at the last minute, the edition at Chicagos Soldier Field is still on. One of the stars is former U.S. captain Carlos Bocanegra, recently returned to Major League Soccer with Chivas USA.
Seattle Sounders at Vancouver Whitecaps
11 p.m. Saturday (NBC Sports Network)
Since joining MLS in 2011, the Whitecaps have never beaten the Sounders. Former Union stalwarts Brad Knighton and Jordan Harvey will try to help Vancouver snap that skid.
Sporting Kansas City at Chicago Fire
3 p.m. Sunday (ESPN)
The Fires turnaround has come after they traded for Mike Magee, who is tied with the Unions Jack McInerney for second in MLS goals with 10.
Canada vs. Martinique and Mexico vs. Panama

The Gold Cup kicks off with a doubleheader at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. In the first game, two Portland teammates face off: Canadas Will Johnson and Martiniques Frédéric Piquionne. In the second game, Mexico will be led by Guadalajaras Marco Fabián and Miguel Ponce. Panama has Dallas Blas Pérez and former Union midfielder Gabriel Gómez.

The U.S. men open Gold Cup play in Portland, Ore. Landon Donovan headlines an American squad that also includes the Unions McInerney and Sporting Lisbons Oguchi Onyewu.
Canada vs. Mexico
