Great QWERTY smartphones for texting enthusiasts
LG Enact
Cnet rating: 3.5 stars out of 5
The good: The reasonably priced Enact has 4G LTE, a useful and comfortable sliding keyboard and an optional user interface for smartphone beginners.
The bad: Slow internal speeds and a mediocre camera tarnish the handsets otherwise reliable performance.
The cost: $350
The bottom line: Budget-conscious QWERTY lovers with Verizon service should consider the Enact, but if cost isnt an issue, the Motorola Droid 4 is the better phone.NEC Terrain
Cnet rating: 3.5 stars out of 5
The good: The waterproof and rugged Terrain features 4G LTE, push-to-talk and an easy-to-use QWERTY keyboard.
The bad: The phone is unattractively heavy, runs the dated Android 4.0 OS and records poor video.
The cost: $430
The bottom line: If you want a rugged AT&T handset, pick NECs sturdy Terrain, but those in search of a more stylish device should consider the pocket-friendly Samsung Rugby Pro.BlackBerry Q10
Cnet rating: 3.5 stars out of 5
The good: The Q10 boasts a superb physical keyboard, the latest BlackBerry OS (version 10.1), smooth performance and long battery life.
The bad: The screen is small. Its camera is average, not exceptional. BlackBerry 10s learning curve is tough and its app selection trails those of its competitors.
The cost: $50 to $800
The bottom line: The BlackBerry Q10 is a great phone for QWERTY diehards and e-mail enthusiasts, but anyone who doesnt need a physical keyboard should skip it.Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere II
Cnet rating: 3.5 stars out of 5
The good: The Galaxy Stratosphere II has a comfortable five-row keyboard, NFC, a decent 5-megapixel camera and 4G LTE.
The bad: The slick coating makes opening the keyboard tricky, the display has a subtle blue tint, and some tasks take a long time to execute.
The cost: $400
The bottom line: Although it isnt hitting on all cylinders when it comes to top-tier specs, the Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere IIs reliable performance makes it the QWERTY keyboard phone to buy for Verizon users.
