Zack Greinke gets job done in Dodgers' 6-2 win over Giants

Dodgers 6, Giants 2
ON THE MOUND: Zack Greinke improved to 2-0 as he limited the Giants to two runs and six hits over six innings. Both runs he allowed came on solo home runs in the sixth inning, one by Brandon Belt and the other by Hunter Pence. Don Mattingly visited Greinke on the mound after Pences home run. I dont know what he was doing out there, said Greinke, who told the manager nothing was wrong. Greinke completed the inning. Chris Withrow struck out the side in the seventh inning and closer Kenley Jansen did the same in the ninth.
AT THE PLATE: Of all the runs the Dodgers scored, Mattingly was particularly pleased with their run in the sixth inning. With the lead down to 4-2, Hanley Ramirez doubled. Ramirez was moved over to third base by an Adrian Gonzalez groundout, and he scored on an Andre Ethier sacrifice fly. Sometimes last year, we didnt get that done, Mattingly said.
EXTRA BASES: Josh Beckett threw a bullpen session and remains a possibility to start Wednesday against the Detroit Tigers. Beckett twisted his ankle in a start Friday night with Class-A Rancho Cucamonga. It was a lot more encouraging today than it was yesterday, he said. With the Dodgers not scheduled to play on Thursday, if Beckett starts Wednesday, Hyun-Jin Ryu would be able to make his next start on six days rest. Ryu has started a team-high three games.
ON THE MEND: It was Chad Billingsleys turn to pitch in Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday. He departed from the game in the second inning, as he complained of a little sensation in his surgically repaired elbow, according to Mattingly. Billingsley returned to Dodger Stadium and was examined by team physician Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who told Mattingly there was no reason to be alarmed.
ROSTER MOVE: The Dodgers acquired left-hander Colt Hynes from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for double-A right-hander Duke von Schamann. Hynes, 28, made 22 relief appearances for the San Diego Padres last season and posted an earned-run average of 9.00. The Dodgers added Hynes to their 40-man roster, but optioned him triple-A Albuquerque. To clear a spot on their 40-man roster for Hynes, outfielder Mike Baxter was designated for assignment.
UP NEXT: The Dodgers dont play Monday. When they return to action Tuesday, Dan Haren (1-0, 0.00) will face the Detroit Tigers and Max Scherzer (0-0, 0.00) at Dodger Stadium at 7 p.m. On the air: TV: SportsNet LA. Radio: 570, 1020 (Spanish).—Dylan Hernandez
